Demolition looks like the easy part, and it is the part where people get hurt and utilities get cut. Knowing what carries load, where the gas line runs, and what is inside the walls of a 1950s house comes before the first swing. We take it down in the right order and haul it the same day where we can.
You get a list of exactly what goes and what stays, signed by both of us before anything comes down. We coordinate the utility disconnects, contain the dust on interior work, and sort material for recycling instead of making one big landfill run. One crew, one price, and the debris leaves with us.
On a garage or shed teardown the first question is usually whether to take the slab. Leaving it is cheaper, and it is not always the right call.

How the job runs
Demolition, step by step.
Quote
We walk the structure, identify utilities and anything structural or hazardous, and quote the demo and disposal as one number.
Prep
We arrange the utility disconnects, handle the paperwork with the city or county, protect what stays, and set dust containment on interior work.
Work
We take the structure or the interior apart in sequence, sorting material as it comes out.
Finish
Debris is loaded and hauled, the site gets graded, the ground is raked or swept, and photos come to you if you are not there.

Do I need approval to tear down a garage?
Almost always, and the requirements differ in every municipality around here. We handle the paperwork with the city or county as part of the job, including the utility disconnect sign-offs they ask for. That step usually sets the start date.
How do you handle utilities?
Gas and electric get disconnected by the utility before we touch the structure, and that is the first item we schedule. Water gets shut off and capped, and we locate any lines running under the drive or yard. We do not start a teardown on somebody's word that the power is off.
Do you recycle materials?
Where it is practical. Concrete, brick, and metal go to recyclers, and clean lumber sometimes gets salvaged. Mixed interior debris usually goes to a construction and demolition facility that sorts it. It keeps disposal cost down, which shows up in your price.
How long does a garage teardown take?
A detached single or double garage is typically one to two days including hauling, once the utility disconnects are done. Breaking out and removing the slab adds a day. The approvals ahead of it usually take longer than the demolition itself.
Can you leave the slab?
Yes, and it is cheaper. It makes sense if you want a parking pad, a patio, or a base for a new structure on the same footprint. If you want lawn there, or a new building with different footings, taking it out now costs less than working around it later.
